ENTERTAINER Vybz Kartel was yesterday offered $3-million bail in the Supreme Court, a development that could put him closer to being released from jail should he secure bail in the magistrate’s court today.

Kartel, along with three other men — fellow deejay Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell; fashion designer Calvin Haye; and Cayro Jones — are to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court where bail applications are expected to be made on their behalf.

ATTORNEYS representing embattled dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel have rubbished claims that he has ditched his legal team.

Reports surfaced earlier today that the attorneys had been fired by the deejay, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, but attorneys Christian Tavares-Finson and Michael Dean told the Observer this afternoon that they were still representing Vybz Kartel.

He is facing two counts of murder, conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of ganja.

VYBZ Kartel was remanded until Friday when he appeared in the Gun Court section of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning to face charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

The statements have been served on the defense by the prosecution and his attorneys are expected to file a bail application when the deejay returns to court.

JAILED Jamaican dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel may face additional murder charges, a highly-placed police source has told the Observer. The deejay is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning to face charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm after being denied bail on a drug possession charge yesterday.

The Observer source said Kartel is also being investigated for his role in the double murder of two men in Portmore, St catherine earlier this year.

‘VYBZ Kartel’ yesterday pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court along with a co-accused who pleaded guilty to the charge.

The co-accused, Alicia Jackson, was fined $500 or 30 days for the ganja which amounted to 4.3 ounces. She shortly after paid the fine and was released.

VYBZ Kartel and Alicia Jackson, a female companion who was arrested with him last Friday, will answer to ganja possession charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning.

Cops from the Flying Squad swooped down on a hotel room the artiste and his associates occupied and found a small quantity of ganja. All four were arrested and charged. He was taken to three properties he frequents in the Corporate Area and Portmore, St Catherine were searches were conducted by the Caribbean Search Centre. A number of items were seized.
